I am not a huge fan of my own writing because whenever I have written for any of my teachers in the past, I never feel like there is any type of definitive answer to what was good in my essays. Without knowing what was good about my writings, I feel I have not been improving.
I have done research papers, poetry, and essays in the past. Even though I have received high grades for my writing in high school, I am still not happy with what I write. It may be I am not able to see any improvement myself or that there is not any improvement to be seen.
The one thing I would like to work on during this class is to be able to see an improvement in my writing all around.
Honestly, as an instructor, articulating to students what is good and bad in their writing is a difficult task. However, I've tried to structure the course to make this clearer and provide different focuses on what people can work on as we go. Also, you'll find I make a lot more comments on papers than most instructors. And, of course, if you still are unclear, do come talk to me in my office.
